The illegal immigration

Illegal immigration from China is particularly important and worrying French authorities because of the underground economy developed by some of the Chinese community in France and is a source of tax evasion extremely important. There are countless  number of sweatshops that exist in Paris, where Chinese illegal immigrants  are slaves for life and have no prospect of offering an education for their children.

But so far the Chinese were rather well received, today we see a growing exasperation of some French as small businesses disappear and are replaced by Chinese shops.

 

The wave of arrivals

The Asian immigration took place in several waves:

- The presence of the first Chinese in France dates back to the Great War where 140 000 Chinese were recruited in China due to agreements between China on one hand, and secondly the France and Great Britain.
After the First World War, over 2,000 Chinese remained in France in 1918.

- After very low migration flows ,  in 1973France  discovered  "Chinatown" and the

 nascent prosperity of the 13th arrondissement of Paris. These migrants are 80% of Chinese origin.
