Why study Latin?
Let us recall initially that 80% of the vocabulary of French comes from Latin: it is thus an invaluable help for the comprehension of the vocabulary and the spelling. Latin gave birth, in addition to French, also to Italian and Spanish: one finds many common points between these three languages. Being a language with variation, Latin also bears resemblances to German. More over, when one takes Latin, one is interested in a great civilization of the past: its history, its geography, the monuments which the Romans left us, the legends, the company, manners of living..............
Also let us specify that the latin pupils see themselves proposed a cultural voyage every year(Arles, Lyon, Nimes...) in reward for their work. Thus the Latin course makes it possible to be interested in languages while forging a solid culture.
