The Sherlock Holmes museum is located in London,221 Baker Street near Madame Tussauds. We visited it on Tuesday morning.

Arthur Conan Doyle was a student at Edinburgh university town. He worked as a doctor at Southsea in England for eight years. In 1892 he stopped his medical occupation to write. He invented two famous characters Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Watson who were friends. For his detective work, SH used a pipe, a cap and a magnifying glass. He was a famous detective yet he practised other activities ( the violin,hunting…)

 

Today Sherlock Holmes is a prototype for other famous detectives (Colombo…)

The museum opened to the public on the

twenty-seventh March in nineteen-ninety.

Lots of people visit the museum to see

Sherlock Holmes belongings mentioned

in Arthur Conan Doyle’s stories.

-On the ground floor, there is a big and beautiful shop which sells of presents,books,T-Shirt,Sherlock Holmes’s hats(and the visitor can buy all these things )

-On the first floor,we saw Sherlock Holmes’s study

with a view over Baker Street. They worked

there during twenty-five years.He used a pipe,

a magnifying glass and a cap.

This house was built in eighteen-fifteen and it is a nice house.

-On the second floor,there are Doctor Watson and Mrs Hudson’s bedrooms.Today,there are exhibition rooms with the bronze chest of Sherlock Holmes,many paintings and photographies and the Sherlockiana collection

-On the third floor,there are lots of statues of people.

We think the Sherlock Holmes museum was very interesting.
