THE SHERLOCK HOLMES MUSEUM

The house was built in 1815 during  Victorian times. It became the Sherlock Holmes Museum in 1990.

Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Watson lived at 221b Baker Street between 1881-1904 in the stories written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.

The apartment was on the first floor of a lodging house and Mrs Hudson was the landlady. There are seventeen steps between the hall of the ground floor and the first floor.

We can see the office, the bedroom and the living-room of Sherlock Holmes on the first floor. We can sit in Mr Holmes’s armchair by the fireside to pose for photos.

On the second, we find Doctor Watson’s bedroom and that of Mrs Hudson. These rooms contain personal belongings and the private papers of the great detective. On the third floor, we can see wax models representing scenes of Arthur Conan Doyle stories and on the last floor a lot of suitcases.

Finally on the ground floor there is a souvenir shop.

Our opinion

That’s a beautiful museum but it’s not very big. In the souvenirs shop we have a lot of choice for souvenir
