s'utilise pour parler des actions qui sont en train de se faire au moment où l'on parle, pour parler des actions présentes.

 

Exemple : Now, he's doing his homework. = Maintenant, il fait ses devoirs. (Il le fait en ce moment)

 

Les formes de ce temps suivent la conjugaison de l'auxiliaire BE (3 formes - am, is, are ), le verbe ne change pas, il y a toujours la forme Base verbale + ING, c'est l'auxiliaire qui change.

 

Affirmative :         I am playing football.

                                    He / She / It is playing football.

                                    You / We / They are playing football.

Negative :             I am not playing football.

                                    He / She / It is not playing football.

                                    You / We / They are not playing football.
